About The Position

The Associate I, Donation Services is typically the first point of contact for customers dropping off items at retail centers or stand-alone donation centers. The position provides friendly, efficient customer service; assists customers with unloading donations; and handles donated goods with care. The work takes place outside in varying weather conditions and temperatures. Donation center hours are Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The schedule varies and may include weekends, evenings, holidays, and occasional overtime.

Requirements

• Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
• Ability to make decisions in accordance with Goodwill standards and guidelines.
• Basic computer skills, including logging into a computer system to order supplies and send and receive email.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and varying temperatures.
• Ability to use safety equipment, such as a dolly or pallet jack, to assist with lifting heavy objects.
• Ability to read, comprehend, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
• Ability to work a varied schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime as necessary.

Nice To Haves

• One year of retail experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly, provide excellent customer service, and answer product questions as needed.
• Assist customers by unloading donations from vehicles or other areas.
• Handle donated items carefully and sort them into appropriate bins or production areas.
• Inspect donations and determine their quality and whether they should go to the sales floor or be shipped to other locations.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and clean environment in donation entrance and parking lot areas.
• When working at a remote donation site, maintain donation centers, sheds, or trailers and follow opening and closing procedures.
• Keep supplies stocked at remote sites as necessary.
• Track and report donation levels daily at remote centers to prevent trailers from becoming overstocked.
• Communicate promptly when the donation warehouse or trailers are becoming full and a truck is needed.
• Follow retail center and donation center policies and procedures.
• Assist drivers with loading and unloading donations onto trucks when necessary.
• Follow safety processes and procedures to help maintain a safe work environment for employees and customers.
• Cross-train in other departments or areas and provide backup as required.
• Report to a store ADC or stand-alone center when necessary.
