About The Position

Goodwill Industries of Akron is hiring an entry-level Donation Attendant / Stock Associate to support its mission of helping individuals prepare for, find, and retain employment. The role serves as a point of contact for donors and helps process donated merchandise while maintaining a safe, organized work area.

The Donation Attendant accepts and assists with loading and unloading donations, sorts and prices clothing and household goods, tests electronics before pricing, and maintains accurate donation records. The role provides courteous customer service to donors, including offering coupons and receipts, and supports the development of service participants. The position requires working outdoors in varying weather and operating equipment according to safe operating procedures.

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and load donations, including clothing, furniture, and other household goods.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Customer service skills.
• Good communication skills and enjoyment of working with people.
• Ability to work efficiently while remaining aware of the surrounding environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Accept donations and assist donors with a friendly, positive attitude.
• Load and unload clothing, furniture, and other household donations.
• Sort clothing and household goods into categories and price merchandise.
• Test electronics to ensure they work properly before pricing them.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date records of donations.
• Offer donors coupons and receipts.
• Help promote the development of service participants.
• Keep the work area clean and free of hazards.
• Operate equipment in accordance with safe operating procedures.
