About The Position

DHL Global Forwarding (DGF), part of Deutsche Post DHL, manages the movement of goods and information across customers’ global supply chains through air and ground transportation, customs brokerage, and warehousing and distribution. The Domestic Operations Specialist directs and coordinates domestic land and air freight movements, optimizing operations for productivity while aligning with business strategy and the local business environment. The role requires compliance with regulations and internal procedures and ongoing coordination with Customer Service, Product, and Global Service Centers.

Under general or limited supervision, the specialist supports operational processes and activities and provides administrative support to the transport and distribution unit. The role includes coordinating shipments and delivery schedules, maintaining vehicles and equipment, updating stock records, communicating operational changes, and helping resolve recurring delivery issues. The specialist also supports less-experienced team members in difficult situations.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of freight forwarding experience.
• Competence with Logistic Management or similar programs.
• Functional competence with MS Office.
• Strong applicable problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated organizational skills.
• High-level leadership skills, including communication, motivation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong communication capabilities.
• Ability to make well-informed decisions.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice To Haves

• BS/BA degree desired.
• Basic knowledge of the Cargo Wise system preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of operations processes and activities under general or limited supervision.
• Provide timely and effective administrative support to the transport and distribution unit or department.
• Maintain vehicles and equipment in working order through a comprehensive program.
• Collect and deliver shipments within specified timeframes by planning routes, liaising with external departments, and communicating promptly.
• Coordinate with import and export departments in anticipation of changes, make relevant adjustments, and communicate them to stakeholders.
• Properly load and unload shipments and maintain loading security.
• Report loading and unloading activities at customer locations using appropriate tools, scanning applications, or phones.
• Record information in databases or computerized systems to maintain up-to-date stock records.
• Retrieve stored information, place orders, or respond to inquiries about inventory levels or delivery schedules.
• Follow established procedures and ensure proper use of operational processes and policies.
• Resolve recurring delivery issues using defined processes, systems, and methods.
• Support less-experienced team members in different or difficult situations.
• Coordinate domestic land and air freight movements while optimizing productivity and maintaining compliance with business strategy, regulations, and internal procedures.
• Maintain ongoing coordination with Customer Service, Product, and Global Service Centers.
