About The Position

The Shift Lead oversees store operations in cooperation with management while actively driving sales by guiding customers through the selection and purchase of cannabis products that meet their needs and preferences. This is a full-time position at the High Profile Cannabis Shop located at 4211 Conestoga Dr, Springfield, IL 62711. The listed rate of pay is $19.00. The role includes customer check-in, sales, product education, online order fulfillment, store upkeep, cash management, inventory activities, and compliance with applicable policies and regulations. The Keyholder acts as the store representative when the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager is not present, supports employee training, and contributes to meetings and store improvements. The position requires working nights, weekends, and some holidays. The work may involve prolonged standing, walking, or sitting; occasional bending, stooping, reaching, crouching, or repetitive motions; and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds, with frequent movement of up to 25 pounds. Employees may encounter varying temperatures, noise levels, equipment, facility environments, or retail settings depending on the location and position.

Requirements

At least 3 years of customer service experience.
High school diploma or GED.
Experience with POS systems and cash-handling practices.
Commitment to reaching key performance indicators regularly.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
Ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision.
Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to correspond professionally.
Willingness to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.
Ability to pass a background check and be at least 21 years old.
Ability to obtain and maintain required state licenses based on work location.

Nice To Haves

Experience opening and closing a retail store or restaurant.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and perform initial check-in verification of required identification.
Meet or exceed individual sales targets and conversion goals using effective sales techniques and knowledge of customer needs.
Assist new customers with state-required forms and update customer information in the POS system as needed.
Maintain the waiting room and sales floor, keep the sales floor stocked, and delegate upkeep tasks to team members as needed.
Educate customers about cannabis properties and product genetics based on desired effects, ailments, or other requests.
Fill online orders efficiently while prioritizing customer experience and state compliance.
Model effective sales generation and customer service for store employees.
Handle customer complaints professionally and partner with management as needed.
Maintain product knowledge and stay current on cannabis trends and compliance regulations.
Use and maintain POS systems accurately and perform daily cash management in accordance with company cash-handling policies.
Open and close the store, assist with product intake, and conduct inventory counts.
Participate in management and store meetings, offering suggestions for employee development, sales opportunities, and organizational improvements.
Follow dispensary policies, including state and local regulations, security and access protocols, inventory tracking, dress codes, and work schedules.
Ensure employees follow company policies and guidelines; represent the store when the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager is absent.
Support training for current and new employees on job duties, POS, inventory, product options, and sales tactics.
Participate in counting, pooling, and splitting tips as assigned by management.
