About The Position

Pipco Transportation, Inc is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Overnight Class A Dispatcher to manage and coordinate freight logistics during overnight hours. This role ensures the efficient and timely dispatching of Class A CDL drivers, monitors route progress, and resolves any issues that may arise during transportation. The ideal candidate must possess excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a strong understanding of DOT regulations and trucking logistics. In this role you are the center of communication. You solve and report any/all issues that arise during your shift and communicate to all defined parties about problems and resolution throughout your shift. You receive written and verbal turnover from previous shift and follow-through on necessary actions to complete directives. You also document a written and communicate a verbal turnover to the next shift for their follow-through on all needed actions. This role is key to optimizing resources to ensure we are the best in the business. This position is perfect for someone that is self-motivated, is an effective communicator and thrives on a fast pace.

Requirements

• Must have logistical background and ability to read and route through various electronic maps to assist with determining the most optimal route necessary along a variety of points on the eastern half of the US.
• Must be able to multitask with different, and sometimes conflicting, events happening at the same time. Proven Superior organization skills to keep track of schedules, routes and personnel.
• Must be able to handle steady inbound flow of phone calls and email messages while managing through issues that arise in a timely, practical, and efficient manner. Ability to work under stress and guide others to calmly and effectively respond to rapidly changing circumstances.
• Ability to clearly and accurately relay information in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to maintain composure and project a positive attitude at all times.
• Possess excellent communication skills to collaborate with others under any type of condition. Effectively listen, understand and execute on instructions.
• Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Outlook as well as google sheets/docs for scheduling and other dispatching duties.
• Must be willing and able to learn several electronic systems including: Transportation Management System, Equipment Tracking and Tracing Software, Any new programs or apps that are added or changed in Pipco’s system.
• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Some weekends or shift adjustments may be required to “fill in” for team member’s time off
• Remain flexible for other available shifts with the potential advancement through the ranks of Pipco Transportation to positions with additional skills.

Responsibilities

• Arrive timely to work prepared to embrace the current dispatch situation at Pipco every day.
• Review status of every driver in our fleet and all carriers Pipco is currently using outside our company to haul freight for our sister company, F&S Fresh Foods.
• Dispatch Class A CDL drives for overnight and early am deliveries, ensuring on-time departures and arrivals.
• Monitor driver routes, providing support and adjustments as necessary to optimize efficiency.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, addressing issues such as delays, mechanical problems, and route changes.
• Utilize dispatching software and GPS tracking systems to maintain real-time visibility on fleet movements.
• Communicate effectively with customers, providing updates on shipment status and addressing any concerns.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of dispatch logs, trip reports, and driver schedules.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, hours of service (HOS) requirements, and company policies.
• Works closely with other dispatchers and management to coordinate shift transitions and operational handovers.
• Handle emergency situations, including accidents and weather-related delays, by implementing contingency plans.
• Assist with on time performance reporting and tracking.
• Collect all driver paperwork upon return and review for invoicing discrepancies prior to sending to accounting.
• Seek additional guidance whenever a situation is unable to be resolved by your efforts alone.
• Take on additional responsibilities as they are brought into the Pipco system and remain open to changes and modifications to current practices with the purpose of improving the overall systems.
