The Dispatcher works in Atrium Health Mobile Medicine’s MedCenter Air Communication Center, receiving requests by radio and phone and coordinating timely responses. The role follows hospital and departmental policies, protocols, and checklists; prioritizes emergency calls; transmits accurate information; documents calls and events in the Security Communications database or CAD system; and confirms that responders arrive and take appropriate action. The dispatcher also monitors alarm systems and equipment panels, dispatches Security, Law Enforcement, Fire Department, or other appropriate agencies as needed, and helps ensure systems are returned to normal working order. A multi-week training program covers phone and radio communications, alarm monitoring systems, and call entry. The position is full time, 40 hours per week, on a rotating track schedule of 12-hour shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Work is primarily in an indoor office with limited visitor access. Conditions may shift rapidly from routine office work to a fast-paced, high-stress environment requiring multiple tasks and quick decisions to protect patients, visitors, and staff.
