About The Position

The Director, Product Marketing leads product marketing for AGBO’s first game. This position owns positioning, launches, player adoption, and scaling across the game lifecycle. The role sits at the intersection of the development studio, publishing, and platform partners, ensuring player insight and market intelligence inform both product strategy and go-to-market execution.

Requirements

  • Shipped a game as the marketing owner.
  • Experience with live service games.
  • Own positioning for a product that had to win attention in a crowded category, and can walk us through what was decided and why.
  • Fluency with the numbers that decide a launch: wishlists, CPI, ROAS, D1/D7/D30 retention, LTV to CAC, and store conversion.
  • Strong demonstrated data analysis skills, comfortable working with numbers, spotting trends, and translating data into clear actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Hands on experience with BI/dashboard tools.
  • Experience designing and reading A/B/multivariate tests and building LTV and pricing models.
  • Plays games regularly and knows the current landscape firsthand.
  • Understands creator and streamer culture from the inside and knows how a game earns credibility with players who distrust marketing.
  • Writes well, whether it's a messaging doc, a memo to leadership, or one line of store copy.
  • Experience working across development, publishing, community, and paid media teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with emerging tools and technologies that are changing how marketing teams work (content creation, creative testing, data analysis, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the positioning and messaging for the title, from the core promise down to the line of copy on the store page.
  • Set the marketing strategy across the full lifecycle, from before announcement through early access and into live service.
  • Set the rules for what we can claim against competitors and keep the messaging honest about what the game does at each stage.
  • Define the audience: core players, plus the wider audience from AGBO’s film and television work.
  • Turn research, playtests, and community signal into decisions about how the game is positioned and packaged.
  • Commission the qualitative and quantitative research the team needs and get it in front of development early enough to change something.
  • Track the competition. Know what’s launching, what they’re claiming, and where the openings are.
  • Build the go-to-market plan for every beat: reveal, betas, early access, launch, through every phase that follows.
  • Own the store pages and platform presence and work with platform partners on featuring and co-marketing.
  • Work with the development team on how features get named and presented, so what gets built reads clearly to a player.
  • Position the ongoing content and monetization strategy so players can see what they're getting, and the numbers still work.
  • Partner closely on user acquisition targets, channel mix, creative testing, etc.
  • Develop and run various tests, A/B, multivariate to validate positing, creative and pricing decisions.
  • Plan the localization and international rollout sequence, market by market.
  • Own the funnel and its targets with analytics, and report against the launch stage gates with a clear recommendation of time.
  • Work directly with first-party platform partners to plan and execute launches.
  • Sit at the production table with the development studio and in its standups.
  • Brief and manage creative agencies and outside partners and hold them to the bar on the assets that carry the campaign: the reveal trailer, key art, and the store page.
  • Advise studio and company leadership, in writing short enough to act on.
  • Own the product marketing budget, and account for what the spend returned.
  • Hire and develop a small product marketing team over time and keep doing the work alongside them.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
