Director of Growth Marketing

CambiumSan Francisco, CA
$160,000 - $190,000Hybrid

About The Position

Cambium is building the modern market for wood, connecting physical supply, strategic advisory, and a digital platform. The company is approximately 100 people, has made three acquisitions in the last 18 months, and experienced significant revenue growth, with plans for further expansion. The marketing team is small and operates with four key areas: Key Accounts, Velocity, Brand, and Lifecycle. Currently, the VP of Marketing manages the Lifecycle function along with other strategic responsibilities. As the company plans for future growth, there's a need for dedicated ownership of the Lifecycle program, which is seen as a major untapped growth lever. This role will be responsible for building the Lifecycle function from the ground up and will be the second in command on the marketing team, leading the growth side as it scales with new regional demand generation roles. As Director, Growth Marketing, you will build and own the Lifecycle program end-to-end. This includes nurturing, onboarding, expansion, and re-engagement strategies across HubSpot, as well as managing the entire email program. You will also oversee customer advocacy initiatives, such as the Built With Cambium program, testimonials, and obtaining permissions for logo and quote usage. A key responsibility will be partnering with the VP of Sales to manage the self-serve plan, focusing on the quote-request experience, speed-to-lead, and automation. Additionally, you will manage the integration of acquired companies' customer data and CRM systems into a unified program and playbook. Building and maintaining HubSpot as a marketing system, including automation, data hygiene, workflows, and attribution infrastructure, will be crucial. You will also set lifecycle metrics for the annual marketing plan and lead future demand generation hires. A significant part of the role involves owning the handoff between demand generation and lifecycle marketing, collaborating with the Sr. Manager, Demand Gen. In the first 60 days, you will conduct an audit of the current lifecycle stack, participate in Sales pipeline reviews, launch an expansion lifecycle program, assess acquired customer bases, and develop a prioritized lifecycle roadmap for the next two quarters. Within six months, the goal is for the Lifecycle function to operate independently of the VP, with a marketing program and metrics for expansion revenue, a polished and automated quote-request experience, unified and segmented acquired customers with a repeatable integration playbook, a consistent output of customer advocacy stories, and the completion of the lifecycle section for the 2027 marketing plan.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in growth or lifecycle marketing, with real time at a B2B company with long sales cycles
  • A track record of building a lifecycle function from close to nothing, and experience leading a growth marketing team
  • Deep hands-on fluency in HubSpot or an equivalent platform (Marketo, Braze, Iterable) — you build the automation yourself
  • Experience running a customer program — advocacy, references, community, or similar — and a knack for getting customers to say yes
  • Comfort with pipeline data: you can pull the query, argue with the number, and explain it to a sales leader
  • A generalist mindset — you figure things out, roll up your sleeves, ask a lot of questions, and are fine with ambiguity while we integrate three acquisitions
  • Heavy, tasteful use of AI tools in your day-to-day work

  • experience in physical products, construction, or building materials, or any industry where the buyer is a professional with a project

  • Partner with our VP Sales as the marketing owner of the self-serve plan: the quote-request experience, speed-to-lead, and the automation that gets the right customers a fast answer without a rep in the loop
  • Own customer base integration for acquisitions — bringing each acquired company's contacts, lists, and CRM data into one system and one program, and running the playbook for the next deal
  • Build and maintain HubSpot as a marketing system: the automation, data hygiene, and workflows behind it all, plus the attribution infrastructure behind our marketing-sourced and marketing-influenced pipeline numbers
  • Set the lifecycle numbers that feed the annual marketing plan, and lead regional demand gen hires as they're added to your team
  • Own the handoff between demand gen and lifecycle, working alongside our Sr. Manager, Demand Gen, who owns top of funnel
