Director of Field Deployment & Market Services

Volley Automation•Denver, CO
•$150,000 - $200,000•Onsite

About The Position

The Director of Field Deployment & Market Services owns the full execution arc for Volley’s automated parking deployments, from signed contract through commissioning, and is responsible for maintaining industry-leading uptime throughout each facility’s operating life. This hands-on leadership role leads on-site deployment teams, coordinates general contractors and trades, manages permitting and code compliance, integrates adjacent building systems, and establishes local service networks in each market. The role also oversees Volley’s Denver headquarters lab and showcase parking facility, where deployments are validated and rehearsed before going live. The Director partners with the CTO and engineering team to identify integration issues, refine installation sequences, validate commissioning protocols, and turn field and lab learnings into repeatable playbooks, technician procedures, and quality standards. The position is based at Volley’s Denver HQ, with extended on-site assignments—potentially weeks to months—in active deployment markets including New York City, Nashville, and Northern California. The Director reports to the COO and works across engineering, commercial, legal, supply chain, construction, and service partners.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in field deployment, construction operations, or implementation leadership for property technology, building systems, or industrial hardware in new-construction environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise working as a general contractor’s counterpart, including knowledge of contractual, scheduling, and trade-coordination realities in ground-up commercial construction.
  • Direct experience managing technology or hardware deployments in ground-up commercial development, such as multifamily, mixed-use, office, hospitality, or parking.
  • Strong working knowledge of development and construction contract structures, subcontract terminology, and risk allocation among owners, GCs, subcontractors, and equipment vendors.
  • A track record of working with and organizing third-party vendors and union contractors, including in major union markets such as NYC and the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Deep familiarity with building, fire, life-safety, and accessibility codes, and demonstrated ability to lead permitting, inspection, and Certificate of Occupancy processes for complex or novel building systems.
  • Experience managing service and installation relationships with vertical transportation OEMs or comparable building-systems suppliers.
  • Familiarity with BMS integration, low-voltage controls, and coordination across MEP trades on complex installations.
  • A track record of building and operating an SLA-driven service program with measurable uptime and response-time outcomes across multiple sites.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Denver, and able and willing to live on-site in active markets for extended periods to stand up deployments.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience in the parking industry, including operations, equipment, automated parking, or parking-adjacent property technology.

  • Background with AEC firms, top-tier general contractors, or developer organizations on the project-execution side.
  • Experience integrating EV charging infrastructure in parking environments.
  • Hands-on engineering and technical installation background, including commissioning, troubleshooting, and bringing complex mechanical, electrical, or controls systems online in the field.
  • Engineering, construction management, or related technical degree; PMP, CCM, or LEED credentials are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site deployment teams from groundbreaking through commissioning across active projects.
  • Embed in New York City, Nashville, and Northern California to lead early deployments and develop a repeatable execution playbook.
  • Serve as the primary technical and operational interface with general contractors, owner’s representatives, and AEC partners.
  • Manage construction interfaces with VRC and lift manufacturers, MEP trades, low-voltage contractors, and BMS integrators.
  • Lead site-readiness inspections, FAT/SAT protocols, and turnover acceptance with developer clients.
  • Oversee the Denver HQ lab and showcase parking facility as a venue for product validation, deployment rehearsal, technician training, and customer demonstrations.
  • Work with the CTO and engineering team to rehearse deployments at the HQ facility, surface integration issues, refine installation sequences, and validate commissioning protocols.
  • Use lab and field learnings to improve deployment playbooks, technician procedures, and quality standards.
  • Maintain the HQ facility’s operational readiness as a showcase for prospects, investors, partners, and AHJ visitors.
  • Own permitting workflows from pre-construction code analysis through final inspection and Certificate of Occupancy across multiple AHJs.
  • Coordinate third-party inspections, equipment certifications, and commissioning sign-offs with local jurisdictions.
  • Work with plan reviewers and inspectors to resolve code interpretation issues affecting novel building systems.
  • Review and negotiate Volley’s scope in development agreements, GC contracts, and subcontracts; partner with legal counsel on risk allocation, lien waivers, insurance, and change orders.
  • Translate Volley’s scope of work into bid packages, schedules, and subcontract documents.
  • Manage construction budgets, schedule risk, and change-order discipline across concurrent projects.
  • Build and lead relationships with third-party vendors, equipment OEMs, and specialty subcontractors across active markets.
  • Coordinate union trades and signatory contractors where required, including navigating jurisdictional disputes and trade-scope agreements.
  • Set performance expectations, quality standards, and communication cadences for field partners.
  • Build and manage local service-provider networks, including lift OEMs, electrical and controls technicians, BMS integrators, and on-call response partners.
  • Define, track, and report fleet uptime, MTTR, and SLA performance; own the operating dashboard shared with executives and customers.
  • Develop preventive maintenance programs and spare-parts strategy with engineering and supply chain.
  • Establish service operations in new geographies as Volley expands.
  • Partner with the CTO and engineering team on field issues, design feedback, and product reliability improvements.
  • Partner with the commercial team during pre-sale and pre-construction to validate site feasibility and execution risk.
  • Develop field operations playbooks, training materials, and standards for repeatable deployment at scale.
