About the position
The job overview for this role is that bluebird bio is seeking a talented leader to join their organization as the Director of Commercial and Sales Training. This person will be responsible for leading the development of the training plan in partnership with sales and marketing, specifically for their approved therapies and upcoming product launch. They will also be responsible for onboarding and continuous development of field teams, executing product and process training, and providing strategic support for enterprise-related training. The ideal candidate should have a successful track record in US commercial roles, experience working with high-performing teams, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Partnering with Sales, Marketing, and HR Business Partners to design, develop, and deliver customized curriculum and learning and development programs across the product portfolio
- Strategic planning, development, execution, and facilitation of comprehensive sales training curricula
- Working with external vendors and internal personnel to ensure the successful design and roll-out of assigned training programs and projects
- Acting and leading as a subject matter expert on product, disease state, and Qualified Treatment Center (QTC) onboarding, activation, and patient pull through
- Providing training support including designing and facilitating trainings to the organization
- Managing the Training & Development Budget for the training organization
- Developing, executing, and maintaining/archiving training content and programs within the legal, medical, regulatory review process
- Assessing the training and development needs of the field team through field visits and gap analyses
- Evaluating the effectiveness of training and taking appropriate steps to continuously enhance the quality of the training curriculum
- Partnering with members of the US Commercial Leadership Team to build franchise capabilities and support industry leadership position
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a life science; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech field, including market insights, sales, and marketing
- Experience in a leadership role, preferably in rare diseases such as Sickle Cell Disease, beta-thalassemia, Hematology, Cell and Gene therapy, Transplant
