About The Position

BAYADA Home Health Care is hiring a Direct Support Professional to work one-on-one with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role supports clients in building independence, participating in their communities, and achieving personal goals. DSPs help clients develop life skills, build social connections, enjoy meaningful experiences, and participate in activities that promote inclusion. The position is part-time and serves communities on the Big Island, including Hilo, Keaau, Mt. View, Pepeekeo, Ocean View, Hawi, Kealakekua, and surrounding areas. The listed pay rate is $20.00 per hour, with opportunities for higher rates when supporting clients with more complex needs. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Requirements

One year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Ability to transport clients to community activities.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to read and write in English.

Responsibilities

Spend time participating in clients’ favorite hobbies and activities.
Support clients in community integration activities, errands, and appointments.
Patiently teach and encourage clients, celebrate their achievements, and allow them space to grow.
Provide personal care assistance as needed.
Transport clients to community activities.
