About The Position
Redwood Family Care Network is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional to provide person-centered support to adults with physical and developmental disabilities in Irvine, California. The role assists individuals with daily living and personal care, supports their goals and routines, and helps maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment. Employees may transport clients in a personal vehicle and receive mileage reimbursement. The position is not remote. Applicants must attend in-person new-hire orientation on Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The posting lists an hourly rate of $18.00–$20.00 and a $500 sign-on bonus. Applicants are subject to pre-employment requirements, including a background check.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities, including crisis management, behavior management, and ABA.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Valid California driver’s license.
- Successfully pass pre-employment requirements, including a background check.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be available for in-person new-hire orientation on Monday and Wednesday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
Nice To Haves
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification; alternatively, willingness to obtain it within the first six months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Outline and prepare clients’ daily routines as written in their Individual Program Plans.
- Support residents’ needs and goals, including participating in the development of IPP/ISP goals.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for clients.
- Take clients to visit family and friends and to preferred leisure or recreational activities, and encourage socialization with peers.
- Assist clients with personal care, including grooming, bathroom needs, and changing undergarments or clothing when needed.
- Prepare daily meals and assist with cleanup.
- Transport clients in a personal vehicle when needed; mileage may be reimbursed.
- Report incidents or problems and communicate daily with administrators.
- Perform other assigned duties.
