About The Position

The Dining Systems Supervisor coordinates patient meal service for the Dining on Call Program, including menu selections, tray assembly, delivery and pickup, and special requests. The supervisor ensures employees are adequately trained and units are properly staffed to provide service, and oversees systems and processes to meet the service’s strategic and operational objectives. The role supports patient food preferences within prescribed diet guidelines, including consideration of allergies or sensitivities and cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences. It evaluates meal selection and tray service processes, responds to patient needs and concerns, coordinates staff activities and schedules, and works with nursing to help ensure accurate diet prescriptions and appropriate food service. The supervisor also maintains required documentation, follows applicable regulatory and sanitation standards, and performs other duties as assigned. This is a full-time position at Shands UF Gainesville in Gainesville, Florida. The schedule is full time, with days and hours that may vary; open availability is preferred. The listed pay range is $16.00 to $21.00 per hour.

Requirements

Previous customer service experience is required.
Previous hospitality experience is required.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Oversee Nutrition Operators, Workstation Associates, and Wait Staff Associates.
Oversee systems and processes to meet the strategic and operational objectives of the Dining on Call service.
Assist with employee selection and orientation, and oversee training of Dining on Call staff.
Work with Nutrition Operators to provide menu alternatives within prescribed diet guidelines, considering allergies or sensitivities and cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences.
Evaluate patient meal selections, tray completion, delivery, and retrieval on a daily basis.
Respond to patient needs and resolve concerns or complaints promptly, seeking supervisor assistance when appropriate.
Comply with special and modified diet restrictions while accommodating food preferences within diet-order limitations.
Oversee development and implementation of action plans for the Dining on Call service as appropriate.
Coordinate and oversee daily and weekly activities and tasks performed by Dining on Call staff.
Develop and post employee schedules according to department policy.
Update and communicate changes to job flows for Dining on Call positions as applicable.
Work with nursing to help ensure diet prescriptions are accurate and patient food needs are met.
Communicate patient-related problems or concerns to appropriate personnel in a timely manner and according to departmental procedures.
Submit required documentation, reports, and logs in a timely, professional, and complete manner.
Visit patients on an assigned nursing unit or area and help ensure each patient is visited by a member of the management or professional team at least once during their hospital stay.
Comply with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO requirements.
Comply with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations and departmental sanitation procedures.
Follow HACCP guidelines when receiving, assembling, and distributing food supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
