About The Position

The Dietary Supervisor assists the Chef with supervisory functions and supports efficient and effective dietary department operations. The role helps plan, organize, coordinate, direct, and conduct departmental activities to provide residents with nutritious, palatable food while meeting professional food preparation and safety standards. The Dietary Supervisor works in a skilled nursing facility and may fill in for any position when needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or graduate status.
Works well with others.
Able to maintain effective communication with the Chef, dietitian or diet tech, and other facility disciplines.
Able to fill in for any position when needed.

Responsibilities

Assist the Chef with managing food service operations and adapt work duties as needed.
Assist with orientation, training, and supervision of dietary staff.
Support the in-service program to maintain quality standards.
Ensure staff can appropriately use and clean dietary equipment.
Conduct meal rounds to help supervise meal delivery to residents.
Be available to residents and families regarding food preferences and suggestions, and learn residents’ likes and dislikes.
Help supervise preparation, production, stockroom, and dishroom work areas.
Maintain safety and sanitation standards.
Provide input on menu planning and development.
Complete assigned Performance Improvement audits for the Chef.
Assist with inventories and stock rotation.
Assist with performance evaluations and, when needed, disciplinary actions for dietary employees.
Communicate effectively with the dietitian or diet tech and other facility disciplines to support teamwork and quality patient care.
Fill in for any position when there is a call-off.
