Diesel Technician - Truck, Trailer & Reefer - New Caney, TX
About The Position
Transport Refrigeration Services is hiring a skilled, motivated Truck Technician for its fleet service team in New Caney, Texas. The role services trucks, trailers, refrigeration units, and APUs to help keep transportation fleets running safely and reliably. Work includes preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnosis and repair, tire and trailer work, and general road service. Flexible schedule options are available as 3x12- or 4x10-hour shifts. Second- and third-shift work receives a $2-per-hour differential. The employer describes the work environment as supportive and safety-focused.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Obtain a toolbox and required tools.
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience performing DOT inspections, brake work, or preventative maintenance, or completion of a technical school program.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and commitment to quality work.
Nice To Haves
- Refrigeration (reefer) unit experience.
- ASE certifications in brakes, suspension, or preventative maintenance; additional hourly pay is offered for these certifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on trailers, trucks, refrigeration units, and APUs.
- Diagnose and repair fuel, electrical, drivetrain, brake, suspension, and cooling systems.
- Replace brakes and service trailer ABS systems.
- Perform FHWA inspections, tire mounting, balancing, and repairs.
- Repair trailer bodies, doors, and structural components.
- Complete interior and exterior trailer cleaning.
- Service APUs and perform general road service as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Operate forklifts, hoists, and company or customer vehicles.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
