Diesel Technician Apprentice
About The Position
Diesel Technician Apprentices work in a fast-paced environment, help maintain clean places, and interact with customers and drivers. Professional experience is not required; Love’s provides training through its apprentice program. Apprentices learn diesel diagnostics and repairs, parts lookup and acquisition, and preventative maintenance. The role includes assisting with roadside services and prioritizing customer safety and satisfaction while following company safety policies and procedures. Employees work a rotating schedule that alternates between day and night as needed and must be able to obtain a Department of Transportation medical card, paid for by Love’s.
Requirements
- Mechanically inclined; professional experience is not required.
- Ability to move and lift 75 or more pounds while working in close quarters.
- Ability to work in various temperatures.
- Ability to obtain a Department of Transportation medical card; the cost is paid by Love’s.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule that alternates between day and night as needed.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with roadside services.
- Learn preventative maintenance services.
- Learn electrical diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air conditioning and heating diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn wheel-end assembly diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air-system diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air-brake diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn charging-system diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn basic computer diagnostics and auxiliary component replacement.
- Learn parts lookup and acquisition.
- Prioritize customer safety and satisfaction while complying with company safety policies and procedures.
