About The Position

Diesel Technician Apprentices work in a fast-paced environment, help maintain clean locations, and interact with customers and drivers. The apprenticeship is designed for people who are mechanically inclined but may not have professional experience; Love’s provides training in diesel maintenance and repair. Apprentices learn diagnostics and repairs for electrical, air conditioning and heating, wheel-end assemblies, air systems, air brakes, and charging systems, along with basic computer diagnostics, auxiliary component replacement, and parts lookup and acquisition. They also assist customers with roadside services and learn preventative maintenance.

Requirements

Be mechanically inclined; professional experience is not required.
Ability to move and lift 75 pounds or more while working in close quarters.
Ability to work in various temperatures.
Ability to obtain a Department of Transportation medical card; Love’s pays for it.

Responsibilities

Assist customers with roadside services.
Learn preventative maintenance services.
Put customer safety and satisfaction first and comply with company safety policies and procedures.
Work a rotating schedule that alternates between day and night as needed.
Learn electrical diagnostics and repairs.
Learn air conditioning and heating diagnostics and repairs.
Learn wheel-end assembly diagnostics and repairs.
Learn air system and air brake diagnostics and repairs.
Learn charging system diagnostics and repairs.
Learn basic computer diagnostics and auxiliary component replacement.
Learn parts lookup and acquisition.
