Diesel Technician Apprentice
About The Position
Diesel Technician Apprentices work in a fast-paced environment, keeping the workplace clean and welcoming while interacting with customers and drivers. The role is designed for mechanically inclined candidates without professional experience; Love’s provides training through its apprentice program. Apprentices learn diagnostics and repairs for electrical, air conditioning and heating, wheel-end assemblies, air systems, air brakes, and charging systems, as well as basic computer diagnostics, auxiliary component replacement, and parts lookup and acquisition. The position also involves assisting customers with roadside services and learning preventative maintenance.
Requirements
- Be mechanically inclined; professional experience is not required.
- Ability to move and lift more than 75 pounds while working in close quarters.
- Ability to work in various temperatures.
- Ability to obtain a medical card through the Department of Transportation; Love’s pays for it.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with roadside services.
- Learn preventative maintenance services.
- Learn electrical diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air conditioning and heating diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn wheel-end assembly diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air system diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn air brake diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn charging system diagnostics and repairs.
- Learn basic computer diagnostics and auxiliary component replacement.
- Learn parts lookup and acquisition.
- Put customer safety and satisfaction first and comply with company safety policies and procedures.
- Work a rotating schedule that alternates between day and night as needed.
