About The Position

WM is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair trucks and equipment used to provide waste management services. The role works on diesel equipment and, at some locations, CNG trucks, using modern tools and procedures. The normal work setting is a repair and maintenance shop at WM’s Biloxi, Mississippi hauling site, with work also taking place in outside conditions. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with occasional Saturdays. The mechanic inspects, diagnoses, and repairs vehicle systems; estimates repair time and material costs; responds to emergency breakdowns; conducts safety checks; and completes repair documentation. The role also supports senior mechanics and maintains a clean, safe work area in accordance with corporate, OSHA, and established safety procedures. WM describes the role as offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus, a starting rate of $27 or more per hour depending on experience, stable hours, and day-one healthcare coverage. Requirements

At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Must be over 18 years of age.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on a range of vehicles and equipment.
Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
Conduct safety checks on vehicles.
Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
Assist senior mechanics in completing project work.
Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards, and follow established safety procedures.
