Design Verification Engineer

Apple•San Diego, CA

About The Position

The Design Verification Engineer works within Apple's silicon design group to verify next-generation cellular systems, including baseband modems and RF link controllers for Apple SOCs. The role develops reusable UVM verification environments and comprehensive coverage-driven and directed tests to validate complex IP and subsystem designs. It collaborates with cross-functional and product development teams, advances verification methodologies using sophisticated tools and techniques, and helps ensure designs are ready for tape-out. The position provides opportunities to build expertise in cellular protocols, IP and subsystem architectures, fabric protocols, debug methodologies, co-verification with models and firmware, and low-power architectures. The ideal candidate has hands-on ASIC design verification experience, adapts to changing requirements, uses ML-based tools to improve productivity, and is committed to quality and collaborative problem-solving.

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge of SystemVerilog and UVM.
  • Experience with SystemC, C/C++, and Python or Perl.
  • Ability to develop and establish design verification methodologies.
  • Ability to use LLMs and MCPs.
  • Ability to develop Python-based automation solutions.
  • Understanding of constraint-random testing, SVA, and coverage-driven verification.
  • Test-planning and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Experience in C/C++ modeling for design verification.
  • Knowledge of 4G/5G cellular physical-layer operation (3GPP).
  • Experience verifying embedded processor cores.
  • Hands-on UVM verification experience with bus fabrics, NoC, AHB, or AXI-based bus architectures.
  • Knowledge of using LLMs to improve verification efficiency and quality.
  • Understanding of prompt engineering and LLM workflow optimization.

Responsibilities
