About The Position

The MI Contracting Technician is responsible for obtaining and maintaining MI Contracting program data as well as producing comprehensive monthly reports that drive informed decision-making and ensure full compliance with State Legislature. The MI Contracting Opportunity Program is a State of Michigan program designed to support activities that enhance the development and availability of contractors or suppliers for the delivery of the department's programs for small businesses. This position assists in the review and intake of all certification applications for completeness, maintains MI Contracting certification application intake databases/records, and prepares reports and correspondence related to this work. The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (7) level through the maximum rate at the experienced (E9) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school
  • One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service (for Departmental Technician 7)
  • One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service OR One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service (for Departmental Technician 8)
  • One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service OR One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service OR Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service (for Departmental Technician E9)
  • Attach a copy of official college transcripts and/or foreign degree evaluation if applicable
  • Academic credentials must be evaluated or converted into U.S. educational equivalents if degrees are foreign
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and physical (if applicable)
  • Criminal and driving records will be checked if applicable

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement (for Departmental Technician 7)
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement (for Departmental Technician 8)
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement (for Departmental Technician E9)
