About The Position
VitalCore Health Strategies is hiring a full-time or part-time Dentist at Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman, Mississippi. The Dentist provides dental services and directs patient clinical examinations upon admission and as indicated, and treats patients’ dental needs. The role includes interpreting radiographic examinations, providing general dentistry within the dentist’s scope of practice, addressing significant oral health problems, and referring patients for procedures that cannot be performed at the facility. The Dentist reports unusual occurrences or accidents to the site or Regional Medical Director and attends required training and meetings.
Requirements
- Maintain a current DEA number.
- Hold a current license in the state of Mississippi.
- Be fluent in English, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
- Demonstrate teamwork and contribute as a supportive team member.
- Be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
- Deal tactfully with personnel, family members, visitors, government agencies and personnel, and the general public.
- Possess leadership and supervisory ability and work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
Responsibilities
- Perform and interpret radiographic examinations as indicated.
- Provide dental treatment, including emergency care for teeth and surrounding soft tissues, oral surgery, restorative dentistry, periodontal therapy, and extractions within the scope of general dentistry.
- Correct significant oral problems that may adversely affect an inmate’s health when deemed necessary.
- Refer patients for procedures that cannot be performed at the facility.
- Report unusual occurrences or accidents to the site or Regional Medical Director.
- Attend required training and meetings.
- Provide dental services and direct patient clinical examinations upon admission and as indicated.
