About The Position

The Dentist reports to a technical superior and provides comprehensive dental care and oral surgery. The role includes examining patients using X-rays and medical histories; performing preventive, restorative, surgical, and other dental procedures; prescribing and dispensing medication; administering local anesthesia, analgesia, and sedation; and providing emergency dental services to the community.

The Dentist also supervises, trains, and evaluates clinic staff; prepares statistical and evaluative reports; and consults with patients, staff, and specialists about treatment, complex cases, and referrals. The position may include planning daily clinic operations and administering budgets, as described in the summary statement.

Requirements

• Possession of a Delaware Dentist license or eligibility for a Delaware license.

Responsibilities

• Examine teeth and surrounding tissues using X-rays and medical history records to determine dental treatment needs.
• Provide dental services including cleaning, scaling, bonding, fillings, extractions, restorations, oral surgery, pulp therapy for root canal treatment, simple bridgework, crowns, partial dentures, space maintainers, and preparation for orthodontic appliances.
• Prescribe and dispense medication as required.
• Administer local anesthesia, analgesia, and sedation.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate clinic staff.
• Prepare statistical and/or evaluative reports.
• Provide emergency dental services to members of the community.
• Plan daily clinic operations and administer budgets.
• Consult with patients, staff, and specialists regarding treatment, complex cases, and referrals.
• Attend professional conferences.
