About The Position

The Delicatessen Clerk provides excellent customer service, develops product knowledge, prepares and handles food, rotates and merchandises products, controls shrink, and works safely while fostering the Niemann Harvest Market culture. The position supports department quality, inventory, stock levels, cleanliness, sales, and checkout operations. No education or prior experience is required. Food Handler’s Certification is provided at store level when required by state law.

Requirements

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations to customers, clients, and associates.
• Perform basic addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions, and weights.
• Obtain Food Handler’s Certification when required by state law; certification is provided at store level.
• Demonstrate the listed key attributes, including communication, prioritization, multitasking, attention to detail, problem solving, adaptability, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver superior guest service and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Use the three E’s: Engagement, Educate, Empowerment.
• Prepare food and learn the use and taste of products offered.
• Conduct department quality assurance checks.
• Handle and rotate products properly.
• Carry out daily operational procedures to maintain stock levels, inventory, and cleanliness.
• Promote sales.
• Process products through the POS system.
• Handle cash, checks, credit/debit cards, gift cards, and coupons.
• Work within company programs, policies, and procedures, and promote and support established programs.
• Follow Health Code guidelines and safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
