About The Position

The Management Trainee learns all aspects of convenience-store and food-and-beverage operations under the direction of a General Manager Trainer. Training includes day-to-day store operations, food operations, maintaining a safe environment, and procedures for recruiting, hiring, scheduling, training, and supervising employees. The trainee also learns to promote profitability, maintain brand standards, execute marketing programs, control expenses and inventory, address shortages, and enforce company programs, policies, and procedures. The role directs store associates and secondary management personnel and is accountable for customer service, the facility’s appearance and maintenance, food quality, equipment, safety, inventory, and cash. The trainee completes NRE training and certification and demonstrates proficiency in store functions, including point-of-sale equipment, reporting, food preparation, cleaning, and stocking. The position requires 50 hours per week and availability for varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

Four-year college or university degree, or at least two years of related retail management experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid in-state driver’s license, required auto insurance, and acceptable motor vehicle report.
Achieve and maintain National Registry Examination (NRE) certification within three examination attempts; failure to achieve certification after three attempts results in dissolution of the position.
Ability to present information effectively to customers, associates, and management; read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents; and respond to common inquiries or complaints.
Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
Must regularly stand, walk, use hands to handle objects or controls, reach, talk, and hear; frequently sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell.
Must regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to meet the role’s vision requirements, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Responsibilities

Complete NRE training and become certified.
Direct and coordinate staff in providing customer service; respond to customer requests, complaints, and inquiries to support service quality.
Learn to maximize sales and profits, control store expenses, monitor and correct shrinkage, and operate within established budgets.
Assist in coaching associates and secondary management personnel to ensure compliance with merchandising, pricing, food-service, and administrative requirements.
Lead by positive example and demonstrate knowledge of store functions, including point-of-sale equipment, reporting, food preparation, cleaning, and stocking.
Be accountable for the facility’s physical image, food quality, maintenance, equipment, safe environment, inventory, cash, and cash equivalents.
Follow the company’s Store Operations Communication Guideline.
Direct store associates and secondary management personnel; participate in interviewing, hiring, training, assigning and directing work, performance appraisal, recognition and discipline, complaint handling, problem resolution, and documentation.
Work 50 hours per week and be available for varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
