About The Position

The Deli Cook prepares hot-case foods by following recipes, charts, spreadsheets, and production lists while monitoring product quality, taste, and hot-case stock levels. The role provides excellent customer service, maintains the work area and cooler according to food-safety standards, and follows store, department, health-code, and safety policies. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Requirements may vary by store location, and management may change position requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Customer-service skills.
• Cooking experience.
• Food-safety knowledge.
• Honesty and integrity.
• High energy level and ability to multitask.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; and speak effectively before groups of customers or associates.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, weights, and measures.
• Ability to perform the physical demands described, including standing, walking, reaching, handling items, and lifting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver superior guest service and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Follow recipes and interpret charts and spreadsheets.
• Monitor food quality and taste.
• Meet deadlines and follow production lists.
• Produce hot-case foods and monitor hot-case stock levels.
• Maintain the work area and cooler to approved food-safety standards.
• Follow store and department policies and procedures and health-code guidelines.
• Promote and support established programs.
• Follow safety policies and procedures and act as a safety role model.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
