About The Position

The Deli/Bakery Associate works independently to prepare, fry, package, display, and stock deli and/or bakery products while supporting the store’s financial interests. The associate helps deliver a positive guest experience and follows company safety and food-safety guidelines. The role may also include tasks in other departments based on customer-experience needs, and travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Detail-oriented.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally, and standing and walking for extended periods.

Responsibilities

Prepare and produce bakery/deli products according to the production planner.
Package and label bakery/deli products according to the program plan.
Merchandise bakery/deli products according to the flight plan and merchandising expectations.
Stock the backroom with bakery/deli products, rotating and dating cases and buckets.
Work with other departments and stores to support growth in SpartanNash retail stores.
Notify the Bakery/Deli Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
Communicate completed tasks, recipes, weights and measures, and cleaning steps to other associates.
Follow personal protective equipment and safety guidelines.
Follow food-safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow guest-experience guidelines.
Complete tasks in other departments when assigned based on customer-experience needs.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
