About The Position
The Deli/Bakery Associate works independently to prepare, fry, package, display, and stock deli and/or bakery products while contributing to the store’s financial performance. The role supports a positive guest experience and follows company safety and food-safety guidelines. Associates may also be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer-experience needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- One year of retail or related experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Detail oriented.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and produce bakery and deli products according to the production planner.
- Package and label bakery and deli products according to the program plan.
- Merchandise bakery and deli products according to the flight plan and merchandising expectations.
- Stock the backroom with bakery and deli products, rotating and dating cases and buckets.
- Work with other departments and stores to support growth in SpartanNash retail stores.
- Notify the Bakery/Deli Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
- Communicate completed tasks, recipes, weights and measures, and cleaning steps to other associates.
- Follow all personal protective equipment and safety guidelines.
- Follow all food-safety and cleaning expectations.
- Follow guest-experience guidelines.
- Perform tasks in other departments as assigned based on customer-experience needs.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
