About The Position

The Deli/Bakery Associate assists customers with services provided by the Deli/Bakery Department. The role includes preparing, cooking, baking, and serving food; handling phone and custom orders; cleaning department equipment and spaces; stocking inventory; and checking supplies and reporting low stock. The associate contributes to customer satisfaction and revenue growth. The position may require a high school diploma or equivalent and 0–2 years of experience in the field or a related area. It involves commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures and is performed under the immediate supervision of a supervisor or manager, relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines. The role does not typically require independent judgment.

Requirements

Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines under immediate supervision.
Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Deal pleasantly with customers to ensure satisfaction.
Greet customers entering or leaving the department and answer questions about Deli/Bakery items.
Maintain professional working relationships with vendors.
Prepare food, including frying, seasoning, and baking items.
Slice, weigh, and wrap cold cuts and cheese; print tags with the weight, product, date, time, and price.
Assemble and decorate cakes or bakery items according to customer requests.
Handle customer phone orders and custom requests courteously and professionally.
Resolve customer complaints, guide customers, and provide relevant information.
Serve customers at the Daily Hot Line and provide information about items offered.
Maintain a clean department, including cleaning display cases, washing dishes, organizing and cleaning shelves, mopping floors, and cleaning equipment.
Report equipment mechanical problems using Work Order Forms.
Answer customer questions and refer unresolved issues to a manager.
Receive, inspect, and store Deli/Bakery products upon delivery.
Stock the department as inventory requires and check supplies and report when stock is low.
