About The Position

This role works independently to prepare, fry, package, display, and stock deli and/or bakery products while supporting the store’s financial interests. The associate is responsible for meeting company guidelines for guest experience, safety, and food safety. The position is performed in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and possible exposure to outside weather conditions. Travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Detail-oriented.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including frequently lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds; standing and walking for extended periods; and frequently bending, stooping, twisting, and turning.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare and produce bakery/deli products according to the production planner.
Package and label bakery/deli products according to the program plan.
Merchandise bakery/deli products according to the flight plan and merchandising expectations.
Stock the backroom with bakery/deli products, rotating and dating cases and buckets.
Work with other departments and stores to support growth in SpartanNash retail stores.
Notify the Bakery/Deli Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
Communicate completed tasks, recipes, weights and measures, and cleaning steps to other associates.
Follow PPE and safety guidelines.
Follow food safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow guest experience guidelines.
May perform tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
