About The Position

As a member of the C&S Wholesale Grocers family of companies, SpartanNash is a food solutions company that distributes grocery and household goods and operates grocery stores, pharmacies, and fuel centers. The Deli/Bakery Associate works independently to prepare, fry, package, display, and stock deli and/or bakery products while contributing to the store’s financial interests. The role is also responsible for meeting company guest-experience expectations and complying with safety and food-safety guidelines. The associate prepares and produces items according to production plans, packages and labels products, merchandises displays, and stocks the backroom while rotating and dating products. The position involves coordinating with coworkers and other departments, communicating completed tasks and product information, and notifying the Bakery/Deli Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered. Associates may also be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer-experience needs. The role is performed in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and possible exposure to outside weather conditions. Travel requirements vary by assignment. Requirements

Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
Detail-oriented.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare and produce bakery/deli products according to the production planner.
Package and label bakery/deli products according to the program plan.
Merchandise bakery/deli products according to the flight plan and merchandising expectations.
Stock the backroom with bakery/deli products, rotating and dating cases and buckets.
Work with other departments and stores to support growth in SpartanNash retail stores.
Notify the Bakery/Deli Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
Communicate completed tasks, recipes, weights and measures, and cleaning steps to other associates.
Follow personal protective equipment and safety guidelines.
Follow food-safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow guest-experience guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments as assigned based on customer-experience needs.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
