About The Position

Hill Brothers Transportation is hiring a Day Local Operations Coordinator/City Dispatcher to lead day-to-day operations for the Skinner Account. The role manages local drivers, coordinates freight, maintains the customer relationship, monitors trailer pools, and makes real-time decisions to keep the operation running smoothly. The position directly supervises drivers and ensures freight expectations, trailer accuracy, temperature compliance, and FMCSR requirements are met.

The schedule is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Saturday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. If a regularly scheduled shift falls on a holiday, the employee is expected to work it; holiday coverage on scheduled shifts is a non-negotiable part of the role.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2–4 years of experience in dispatching, transportation operations, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to stay organized and composed in a fast-paced environment.
• Availability to work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Saturday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
• Expected to cover regularly scheduled shifts that fall on holidays.

Nice To Haves

• TMW or Innovative software experience.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch local drivers and maximize their productivity.
• Process bills of lading.
• Communicate with the customer to ensure freight expectations are met.
• Manage trailer pools across assigned locations.
• Coordinate equipment needs with shop personnel.
• Conduct yard checks twice daily to ensure trailer accuracy and temperature compliance.
• Monitor driver Hours of Service to keep the account compliant with FMCSR requirements.
• Coach drivers on telematics usage.
• Directly supervise local drivers and make real-time operational decisions.
