About The Position

Hill Brothers Transportation is hiring a Day Local Operations Coordinator/City Dispatcher to lead day-to-day operations for the Skinner Account. The role manages local drivers, coordinates freight, maintains trailer pools, and makes real-time decisions to keep the operation running smoothly. It supervises drivers directly, owns the customer relationship, and ensures freight expectations are met.

The schedule is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Saturday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. If a regularly scheduled shift falls on a holiday, the employee is expected to work it; holiday coverage is a non-negotiable part of the role.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2–4 years of experience in dispatching, transportation operations, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to stay organized and composed in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with TMW or Innovative software.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch local drivers and maximize their productivity.
• Process bills of lading.
• Communicate with the customer to ensure freight expectations are met.
• Manage trailer pools across assigned locations.
• Coordinate with shop personnel regarding equipment needs.
• Conduct twice-daily yard checks to ensure trailer accuracy and temperature compliance.
• Monitor driver Hours of Service to keep the account compliant with FMCSR requirements.
• Coach drivers on telematics usage.
• Supervise drivers directly and make real-time operational decisions.
