About The Position

The Dairy Clerk keeps store dairy and frozen cases stocked and clean during business hours, assists customers as needed with a friendly and energetic demeanor, and follows all procedural guidelines established by the Dairy department. The role includes maintaining sanitary and safe work areas, stocking and organizing products according to department schematics, monitoring product freshness and pricing, receiving and checking shipments, supporting customers with product information and selection, and maintaining product knowledge. The position may require operating department equipment and handling products in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Be at least 16 years of age.

Be able to vertically or horizontally transfer boxes or crates weighing 40–60 pounds between the specified shelf heights, up to 10 feet, for 6–50 hours without mechanical assistance.
Be able to walk up to 5 miles in an 8-hour shift; the posting also states the ability to walk up to 3 miles per 8-hour shift.
Be able to use a 2-step stool to access shelves for up to 1 step per 8 hours.
Adhere to safety, health, OSHA, and Weights and Measures regulations.
Team members under 18 are restricted from using knives other than safety cutters, using ladders, operating garbage or cardboard compactors, operating motor- or electronically powered equipment (including manual pallet jacks), and working in coolers or freezers for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

Keep dairy cases, storage areas, and work areas clean and safe, including cleaning shelves and products, preventing liquid spills, removing hazardous debris, and sweeping.
Stock dairy cases; present, face, fill, and organize products according to Dairy Department schematics and ensure tags and prices are accurate.
Check rotation of dairy products, identify expired stock, and discard outdated or spoiled items.
Respond positively to customer inquiries and assist with purchases, information, and product selection, including selling and cross-selling products.
Receive, inspect, and log products for shipment accuracy, temperature, and quality.
Monitor point-of-purchase signs and maintain recipe cards, product coupons, promotional materials, and information about complementary foods.
Operate and use equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, subject to age-related restrictions.
Use scales and weight measures to weigh and label products accurately.
Maintain a high level of product knowledge and product preparation knowledge.
Walk the department regularly to maintain an organized, sanitary, and clean appearance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
