About The Position

Vallen is seeking a Customer Service Representative (CSR) to work at a customer location and provide exceptional service. The role involves procuring products, goods, and materials that meet the organization's standards for price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply, while helping ensure the customer's current and anticipated needs are met. The CSR manages procurement and purchase orders, evaluates vendors and requested items, monitors product quality and delivery, and communicates with vendors and customers to resolve issues and provide order updates. The role also includes maintaining supplier and customer relationships, resolving accounts-payable discrepancies with suppliers, identifying and documenting customer cost savings, and following Vallen and customer procedures. Work may take place in a manufacturing environment, with possible exposure to dirt, smoke, heat, or cold. The position involves extended computer use and repetitive keyboarding. Overtime may be required with little advance notice.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent customer service skills.
Computer skills and the aptitude to learn Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Inventory Management applications.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, organizational skills, and execution skills.
Proficiency with MS Office products.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of experience in procurement is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform procurement activities to meet the customer's current and anticipated demand for stock, non-stock, or spot-buy products and materials in alignment with Vallen's purchasing strategies.
Assess existing orders and determine whether to expedite or de-expedite them to optimize delivery.
Place purchase requisitions and vendor purchase orders.
Research and assess vendors and requested items, and make recommendations to ensure compliance with specifications and customer standards for quality, pricing, and delivery.
Monitor the quality and timeliness of supplied products and materials; coordinate returns of damaged goods or replacement items when needed.
Follow up with vendors on purchase-order status to ensure timely delivery and communicate order status to customers.
Work with vendors to resolve product-quality and timeliness problems.
Maintain and cultivate relationships with suppliers, vendors, and assigned customers.
Research and resolve accounts-payable nonconformance with suppliers.
Identify and document customer cost-saving opportunities.
Follow Vallen and customer Standard Operating Procedures and operating practices, and keep the worksite professional, clean, and neat.
Perform other duties as assigned.
