About The Position

As a Customer Delivery Driver at Sainsbury’s, you deliver customers’ grocery orders to their doorsteps, providing a friendly, thoughtful and helpful service. You drive a 3.5-tonne refrigerated van, ensuring deliveries arrive on time and in good condition. The role includes checking that the van is roadworthy, clean and organised, and that shopping is secure before departure; following planned routes; and driving safely across varied locations and road conditions. You may also help elsewhere in the store when you are not making deliveries. The work is fast-paced and physical. It involves repeatedly moving containers weighing up to 15 kg and delivering to a range of properties, which may require using steps or lifts or walking longer distances from the van. You communicate with customers about delays, questions and order changes, use route and delivery technology, and make safe decisions while on the road. Sainsbury’s offers permanent and fixed-term vacancies; check the contract type for the specific vacancy before applying. Applicants must be over 18, have held a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than six points, and have the right to work in the UK. Applicants complete an online driving risk assessment during the interview process and, if successful, a driving assessment on joining. In-cab AI cameras monitor driver behaviour to support compliance with road laws and defensive-driving standards.
