About The Position

Under the direction of the Principal or designee, performs a variety of routine and specialized custodial duties in the care and maintenance of a school building and grounds; performs related work as required. This is a 12-month position with 4.1 hours per day.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to perform routine custodial tasks.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and materials.
Ability to operate and maintain custodial equipment.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

Previous custodial experience in a school setting.
Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

Cleans and maintains assigned school buildings and grounds in a safe, sanitary, and attractive condition.
Sweeps, dusts, mops, waxes, and buffs floors.
Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, including fixtures, floors, and walls.
Empties trash and recycling receptacles.
Washes windows, walls, and ceilings.
Performs minor repairs such as tightening screws, replacing light bulbs, and unclogging drains.
Reports major repair needs to supervisor.
Operates and maintains custodial equipment such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and carpet cleaners.
Assists with setting up and taking down furniture for school events and activities.
May perform groundskeeping duties such as mowing, weeding, and snow removal.
Follows safety procedures and guidelines.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
