About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks in assigned school buildings and grounds; ensures a safe, clean, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors. This is a 12-month position working 8 hours per day.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
Ability to operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their safe use.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

Previous custodial or janitorial experience.
Experience in a school or institutional setting.

Responsibilities

Performs routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and polishing floors, furniture, and fixtures.
Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
Empties trash receptacles and disposes of waste in designated areas.
Washes windows, walls, and other surfaces.
Performs minor maintenance and repair tasks, such as changing light bulbs, tightening screws, and reporting larger issues.
Operates and maintains cleaning equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums.
Assists with setting up and removing furniture for school events and activities.
Follows safety procedures and guidelines for the use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Reports any safety hazards or maintenance issues to supervisor.
May perform groundskeeping tasks such as mowing, weeding, and snow removal as needed.
