About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness of all areas of the facility to ensure a positive member experience. The role includes cleaning and sanitizing locker rooms, fitness equipment, and the gym floor; stocking locker rooms with paper products; reporting broken amenities or equipment; and promptly turning in lost member property according to the company’s lost-and-found policy. The position requires honesty, a good work ethic, and customer-focused communication, listening, problem-solving, and diplomacy.

Requirements

• Honesty and a good work ethic.
• Ability to stand and walk for at least 75% of the shift.
• Ability to reach and feel with hands, fingers, and arms for at least 75% of the shift.
• Ability to climb, balance, kneel, and crouch for less than 20% of the shift.
• Ability to talk with members and staff for less than 30% of the shift.
• Ability to lift over 100 pounds for less than 20% of the shift.
• Ability to work in conditions where toxic chemicals may be encountered for less than 30% of the shift.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly clean and sanitize locker rooms, fitness equipment, and the gym floor.
• Stock locker rooms with the proper paper products.
• Report broken amenities or equipment, such as toilets, showers, hair dryers, and gym equipment, to the Club Manager, Manager in Training, or Team Lead.
• Immediately turn lost member property in to the Club Manager, Manager in Training, or Team Lead, following Baseline Fitness’s lost-and-found policy.
• Communicate and interact with customers, coworkers, and the public in a way that exceeds their wants and needs.
• Actively listen, empathize with customers’ perspectives, and work together to solve problems.
• Recognize and define problems, analyze relevant information, encourage alternative solutions, plan resolutions, and seek additional assistance when needed.
• Demonstrate tact and skill in interactions while using appropriate behavior and language.
