About The Position
Custodians provide a clean, safe, high-quality facility that supports an enhanced learning environment and IDEA’s commitment to excellence. The role includes daily cleaning, completing assigned work orders, maintaining facilities and equipment, managing custodial supplies, following safety procedures, and supporting campus facilities planning. Custodians are expected to demonstrate reliability, punctuality, flexibility, good judgment, and a team-oriented approach, including working longer hours as needed to meet the mission goal. The position is based at IDEA Elsa. Compensation is an hourly rate ranging from $14.86 for 0 years of experience to $18.21, and the role is eligible for a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment. IDEA offers a benefits plan that includes medical coverage and other listed benefits. A relocation allowance may be offered if applicable.
Requirements
- Ability to understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
- Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.
- Reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and responsibility.
- Ability to work longer hours as needed to meet the mission goal.
Responsibilities
- Provide a clean and healthy environment that supports an enhanced learning environment.
- Achieve a proficient rating on the Facilities Rubric and Facilities Audit.
- Execute assigned work orders, with a goal of completing 90% of campus projects within 48 hours.
- Complete daily cleaning responsibilities, paying close attention to detail.
- Work with the Facilities Manager to identify facilities needs for capital expenditures planning.
- Operate safely, complete SafeSchools training by the deadline, and use personal protective equipment at all times.
- Keep all chemicals on hand locked and promptly report unsafe campus situations.
- Manage custodial supplies and equipment efficiently in accordance with campus cost and energy-use allocations.
- Minimize material consumption and maintain an accurate inventory log.
- Order supplies from the Facilities Manager within campus guidelines.
- Properly use and maintain heavy equipment.
- Demonstrate reliability and responsibility through attendance, punctuality, and flexibility; maintain zero unexcused absences and consistent punctuality.
- Follow the work schedule, prioritize tasks, and use good judgment to support efficiency.
- Work longer hours as needed to meet the mission goal.
