About The Position

This position is for a Cross-Border Midwest Short-Haul Owner-Operator primarily running open-board Canada/U.S. in Ontario, Quebec, and the Midwest U.S. The role requires drivers to be on the road 5 to 7 days at a time, averaging 2,500 miles per week. Drivers must be willing to drive in all Canadian Provinces and U.S. States, including the Northeast U.S. and specifically Highway 17 in Ontario. The position involves regional freight, the ability to pull refrigerated freight, and hauling all commodities including meat and alcohol. A flexible schedule requiring weekend departures is necessary. Bison Transport is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Requirements

  • Owner-Operator with 24 months tractor-trailer experience
  • Tractor must be equipped with a working DEF system
  • Bunk truck required
  • Must be U.S. qualified
  • Must hold a valid FAST card
  • Minimum of 6 months U.S. driving experience
  • Minimum of 6 months Highway 17 experience
  • Must be able to work weekends
  • Must have a valid Class 1/AZ license
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more
  • Reliable, flexible, and punctual
  • Strong communication skills
  • Values safety
  • Registered with the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to pull refrigerated freight if available

Responsibilities
