About The Position

CyrusOne is a global enterprise data center collocation provider focused on increasing the availability and efficiency of customers’ mission-critical business applications and safeguarding their data. Under the direction of the Sr Facility Manager, the Critical Environments Operator I works as part of an Operations & Maintenance organization providing services in a 24/7/365 data center environment. The role is responsible for completing assigned tasks in data center operations and any assigned non-data-center spaces, following building operating rules and applicable company, government, client, and EHS requirements. The operator coordinates with contractors and vendors to support safe and effective maintenance and project work, works with safety, security, and clients, and reports potential problem areas to management. The position may also involve janitorial work, inventory management, internal departmental tasks, equipment evaluations, and suggestions for contractor scopes of work. The employee receives on-the-job and specialized training and is expected to maintain high standards of workmanship. Other duties may be assigned by the Sr Facility Manager.

Requirements

0–2 years of experience in operations and maintenance roles or customer service experience.
Must be able to use personal computers.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must be available for after-hours work needs.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and comprehend information.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and expedite projects from conception to closure.
Ability to identify equipment malfunctions and deviations in performance and control.
Ability to work effectively with managers and more experienced technicians, and independently when necessary.
Ability to make informed decisions using available information, experience, training, and understanding.
Ability to use diagnostic equipment and established methodologies to diagnose problems.
Promote and contribute to team success by participating in group activities, preventive maintenance, and projects.

Responsibilities

Complete assigned tasks in the operation of the data center and any assigned non-data-center spaces.
Know and follow the building operations rules for buildings under the employee’s care, as provided by the Sr Facility Manager.
Perform related services such as janitorial tasks, inventory management, and internal departmental tasks as required.
Carry out other duties assigned and directed by the Sr Facility Manager.
Coordinate with contractors and vendors as needed to support safe and effective maintenance and project work.
Work with safety, security, and clients, and report potential problem areas to management as applicable.
Receive on-the-job and specialized training in areas of specialization.
Provide equipment evaluations or suggestions for outside contractors’ scopes of work as needed.
Perform duties to ensure high standards of workmanship.
Comply with company, government, client, and EHS policies, procedures, regulations, requirements, and programs as provided.
