About The Position

Gaggle has been supporting student safety and well-being for over 20 years, serving 5.2 million students. The company helps K-12 districts manage student safety on school-provided technology, offers tele-therapy, and has a history of preventing tragedies. Gaggle is building its Crisis Counselor team and is seeking Independent Contractors for this role. This contract work offers flexibility in scheduling. The Gaggle ReachOut team provides 24x7 support for students in crisis situations. As an Independent Contractor, you will contribute to Gaggle's mission of positively impacting the lives of K-12 students.

Requirements

  • Experience in crisis intervention, crisis counseling, or a crisis help line strongly preferred; equivalent experience in mental health support, social services, or victim advocacy also considered.
  • Background in de-escalation techniques, mental health support, or social work.
  • Experience in counseling, coaching, or peer support roles.
  • Skilled at empathetic listening, rapport-building through text-based chat, and providing compassionate support during mental, emotional, or relational crises.
  • Proficient with computer and web-based applications in a professional setting.
  • Respectful of differing opinions and perspectives.
  • Comfortable adapting to change and evolving processes.
  • Able to work independently; prior experience as an independent contractor preferred.
  • Reliable high-speed internet access required (satellite internet not accepted).
  • Access to a computer, Chromebook, or laptop required (tablets and phones not accepted).
  • Strong general technology skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts supporting a 24/7 crisis line; multiple shift options available, with scheduling built around your availability.
  • Criminal background checks are required for all prospective Independent Contractors (includes National Criminal and National Sex Offender Registry check).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Slack or similar business chat platforms a plus.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving start-up environment with ongoing process improvements.
