About The Position

The Courtesy Clerk maintains acceptable store conditions according to Company standards while providing customer service. The role includes bagging and transporting groceries, locating products, conducting price verifications, and performing other customer service duties while maintaining a safe and sanitary shopping environment. Work is generally performed in a retail store, with frequent exposure to outdoor temperatures and weather, occasional exposure to wet or slippery conditions and cleaning agents, and quiet to moderate noise levels. The position typically involves on-the-job training and requires applicants to be at least 16 years old. Partners must be at least 21 to drive for Company business under the BGC Business Driver Policy.

Requirements

At least 16 years of age.

Attention to potential hazards and ability to address or report them.

Responsibilities

Bag groceries properly by grouping like items, limiting bag weight, preventing food cross-contamination, and ensuring customers receive all purchased items.
Collect shopping carts and return them to the cart corral; keep the parking lot free of trash and debris, and communicate incidents, actions, or concerns on store premises to management.
Keep front-end racks, drink coolers, and cleaning supply stations stocked, clean, and presentable.
Promote product sales through active customer engagement.
Handle objects carefully to avoid damage to products or property.
Clean the breakroom and restroom and face products according to Company guidelines.
Greet customers, answer questions, and bag and transport groceries to customers’ vehicles while maintaining a friendly, service-oriented attitude.
Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment by following Company safety procedures and policies.
Watch for potential hazards and remedy them or place appropriate warnings as soon as reasonably possible; report hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.
