About The Position

The Department of Jewish Studies is inviting applications to teach a course in fall 2026. This course, JWST 309 – Jews in Film, is an introduction to the portrayal of Jews in film from the 1920s to the present. Films to be studied will usually be based on literary texts in English, which will form part of the required study. Films in languages other than English will be subtitled. Requirements

  • Advanced degree in film/communications.
  • Extensive experience teaching the intersection between Jewish topics and film.
  • Authorized to work in Canada.
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based/located.
  • English communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Teach JWST 309 – Jews in Film, an introduction to the portrayal of Jews in film from the 1920s to the present.
  • Utilize literary texts in English as part of the required study for films.
  • Incorporate films in languages other than English, ensuring they are subtitled.
  • Conduct the course in-person.
