About The Position
The Courier/DOT-1 position involves operating a vehicle for assigned courier duties. The role requires a license appropriate for the assigned vehicle, compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, and a medical examination in accordance with FMCSA or FAA regulations. It is a non-covered safety-sensitive position requiring constant alertness and safe work practices. The position involves customer contact and handling packages, including lifting up to 50 pounds and maneuvering heavier packages with appropriate equipment or assistance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be licensed for the type of vehicle assigned.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and maneuver packages weighing more than 50 lbs. with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person.
- Good human relations and verbal communication skills.
- Neat appearance, as customer contact is required.
- Must meet qualifications outlined in section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Medical examination required in accordance with FMCSA or FAA regulations.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officials, and respond to official inquiries and directions in accordance with FMCSA enforcement guidance.
