Courier/Swing Drvr/DOT
About The Position
Operates company vehicles and provides courteous and efficient delivery and pickup of packages. Checks shipments for conformance to FedEx features of service, provides coverage for all assigned routes within the station's service area, and performs related customer service functions. Performs other duties as assigned. This is a non-covered safety-sensitive position requiring a constant state of alertness and safe work practices. The employee must meet and maintain qualifications under federal motor carrier safety regulations, undergo a medical exam in accordance with FMCSA or FAA regulations, and maintain a valid driver's license appropriate for the assigned vehicle and a good driving record. A neat appearance is required because the role involves customer contact. Refer to policy 4-48 for exact requirements for employees who operate company vehicles. Schedule depends on station needs. Starting pay is $24.70 per hour.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and maneuver packages of any weight above 50 lbs with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person.
- Good human relations and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officials, and respond to official inquiries and directions in accordance with FMCSA enforcement guidance.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Must meet and maintain qualifications outlined in federal motor carrier safety regulations.
- Must undergo a medical exam in accordance with FMCSA or FAA regulations.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid driver's license in accordance with state requirements for the type of vehicle assigned and have a good driving record as outlined in policy.
- Neat appearance, as customer contact is required.
