About The Position

Insomnia Cookies is hiring a Cookie Crew Member at its Evanston bakery. Cookie Crew Members welcome guests, bake and package the company’s treats, prepare orders, and help maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe bakery. The role combines baking, customer hospitality, order fulfillment, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment, with regular evening, late-night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Team members should be available during peak business hours; scheduling needs vary by location. The position requires standing and walking for extended periods, frequent bending and reaching, and regularly handling loads up to 30 pounds. The bakery environment includes heat from ovens, refrigerated areas, cleaning chemicals, and moderate noise. Employment is contingent on successful completion of applicable background checks, employment verification, and other lawful pre-employment requirements.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to obtain food safety certifications required for the location.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours per shift.
Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, and lift.
Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Ability to handle bakery equipment and food products and use a point-of-sale system.
Ability to work in varying temperatures, including near ovens, freezers, and refrigeration units.
Ability to read order screens, recipes, and safety information.
Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members in a fast-paced environment.
Availability during peak business hours, including evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Welcome guests with genuine hospitality and make interactions memorable.
Prepare, bake, and package cookies, brownies, ice cream, and other treats to company quality standards.
Accurately prepare in-store, pickup, delivery, and online orders.
Operate the register and process guest transactions.
Keep the bakery clean, stocked, organized, and food-safe throughout each shift.
Support the team by restocking supplies, assisting teammates, and helping keep service moving.
Address guest concerns with empathy and urgency, involving the Shift Leader when needed.
Help create a positive guest experience that encourages repeat visits.
Safely operate kitchen equipment in accordance with company procedures.
