About The Position

As a member of the Cookie Crew at Insomnia Cookies’ Evanston store, you serve customers at the front of the bakery while baking and preparing the company’s cookies and other treats. The role combines baking, hospitality, order fulfillment, and late-night service in a fast-paced bakery environment. Team members work together to welcome guests, prepare fresh products, package orders, and keep the bakery operating smoothly during busy periods. The position requires availability during peak business hours, including evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Scheduling needs vary by location. The role involves standing and walking for extended periods, frequent bending and reaching, handling bakery equipment and food, and working around ovens, freezers, refrigeration, cleaning chemicals, and moderate noise.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to obtain any food safety certifications required for the location.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours per shift.
Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, and lift.
Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Ability to use hands and fingers to handle bakery equipment, food products, and a point-of-sale system.
Ability to work in varying temperatures, including near ovens and in freezer and refrigeration areas.
Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment according to company procedures.
Ability to read order screens, recipes, and safety information.
Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members in a fast-paced environment.
Availability during peak business hours, including evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Welcome guests with genuine hospitality and make their interactions memorable.
Prepare, bake, and package cookies, brownies, ice cream, and other treats according to Insomnia’s quality standards.
Accurately prepare in-store, pickup, delivery, and online orders.
Operate the register and process guest transactions.
Keep the bakery clean, stocked, organized, and food-safe throughout each shift.
Restock supplies, assist teammates, and help keep service lines moving.
Resolve guest concerns with empathy and urgency, involving the Shift Leader when needed.
Provide an experience that encourages guests to return.
