About The Position

As a Cookie Crew Member at Insomnia Cookies’ Starkville store, you serve as a customer-facing team member and help bake and package the bakery’s treats. The role combines baking, hospitality, order preparation, and store upkeep in a fast-paced bakery environment. Team members work collaboratively to welcome guests, prepare accurate orders, maintain food safety and cleanliness, and resolve customer concerns. Evening, late-night, weekend, and holiday shifts are regular parts of the business, and availability during peak hours is expected. Scheduling needs vary by location. The position regularly involves standing and walking for up to eight hours per shift; reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, and lifting; handling bakery equipment, food products, and a point-of-sale system; and working around ovens, freezers, and refrigeration units. The environment includes guest interaction, oven heat, refrigerated storage areas, cleaning chemicals, and moderate noise. Employment is contingent on applicable background checks, employment verification, and other lawful pre-employment requirements.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Ability to obtain any food safety certifications required for the location.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to eight hours per shift.
Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, and lift.
Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Ability to use hands and fingers to handle bakery equipment, food products, and a point-of-sale system.
Ability to work in varying temperatures, including around ovens, freezers, and refrigeration units.
Ability to read order screens, recipes, and safety information.
Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members in a fast-paced environment.
Availability during peak business hours, including evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Welcome guests with genuine hospitality and make interactions memorable.
Prepare, bake, and package cookies, brownies, ice cream, and other treats to Insomnia’s quality standards.
Accurately prepare in-store, pickup, delivery, and online orders.
Operate the register and process guest transactions.
Keep the bakery clean, stocked, organized, and food-safe throughout each shift.
Support the team by restocking supplies, helping teammates, and keeping the line moving.
Resolve guest concerns with empathy and urgency, partnering with the Shift Leader when needed.
Deliver a positive guest experience that encourages customers to return.
Safely operate kitchen equipment according to company procedures.
